Welcome to TrekMap. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these terms. Please read them; they are intentionally short.
Using TrekMap
- You must be at least 13 years old to use the app.
- You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your sign-in secure.
- Do not misuse the service: no abuse, scraping, attempts to break security, or overloading our systems or the third-party APIs we depend on.
Your content
You keep ownership of the places, notes, images, and other content you add. You grant us the limited permission needed to store and display that content back to you within the app. You are responsible for having the rights to any content you upload.
Sharing posts to add places
When you share a social post or paste a link into TrekMap to add a place, we fetch and analyze that specific post — its caption, thumbnail, and where available a few frames — only to detect the destination and pin it for you. We process only the content you choose to share; we don't crawl or harvest social platforms. You should only share posts you have the right to share, and third-party content remains subject to the original platform's and creator's rights.
Images and licenses
Some destination images are drawn from openly-licensed libraries such as Wikimedia Commons and Openverse and are used under their respective licenses (e.g. Creative Commons or public domain), with attribution where required. Images you upload must be ones you have the rights to use.
Notifications
If you opt in, we may send price-drop alerts by email and/or browser push. You can turn these off any time in Settings, and every alert email includes context on why you received it.
Your data rights
You can download all of your data as a JSON file, and you can permanently delete your account and all associated data, from Settings. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Flight and destination information
Flight prices, deals, images, and destination details come from third-party sources and are provided for convenience only. They may be inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date. Always confirm prices and details with the airline or provider before booking. TrekMap does not sell flights and is not responsible for third-party bookings.
Availability
TrekMap is a personal-scale project offered on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features at any time, and we do not guarantee uninterrupted service.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, TrekMap and its operator are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, including reliance on third-party travel information.
Termination
You may stop using TrekMap and request account deletion at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the app evolves. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.
